whAT IS ALL ON 4 DENTAL IMPLANTS

All-on-4 dental implants have revolutionised the field of implant dentistry, offering a permanent solution for those who are missing multiple teeth or require full mouth reconstruction. This innovative treatment approach provides patients with a fixed set of teeth supported by just four dental implants, offering improved stability, functionality, and aesthetics compared to traditional dentures – this is a transformative dental procedure.

What are All-on-4 Teeth Implants?

All-on-4 dental implants, also known as full arch implants, are a type of implant-supported prosthesis designed to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Unlike traditional dental implants, which require one implant for 1-2 teeth, All-on-4 implants utilise just four strategically placed implants per arch to support a full set of prosthetic teeth. This innovative approach maximizes available bone and reduces the need for bone grafting procedures, making it an ideal solution for patients with limited bone volume.

Do All-on-4 Dental Implants Last Forever?

While All-on-4 dental implants offer excellent long-term durability and stability, it’s essential to understand that they may not last forever. Like natural teeth, dental implants require proper care and maintenance to ensure their longevity. With good oral hygiene practices and regular dental check-ups, All-on-4 implants can provide decades of reliable service. However, factors such as bone loss, peri-implantitis, and general wear and tear can affect the lifespan of dental implants over time.

Are All-on-4 Dental Implants Worth the Pain After Surgery?

While the thought of undergoing dental surgery may seem daunting, many patients find that the benefits of All-on-4 dental implants far outweigh any temporary discomfort experienced during the initial recovery period. Thanks to advancements in surgical techniques and anaesthesia, most patients report minimal pain and discomfort following the All-on-4 procedure. Additionally, the ability to have a full set of teeth fitted on the same day as implant placement offers immediate restoration of function and aesthetics, making the short-term discomfort well worth the long-term benefits.

DDS (Thessaloniki Greece)/ MSc (Dental Implantology Manchester)

Alex is highly qualified with extensive experience in implantology and dentistry as a whole. Find out more about his skills, background and missing teeth replacement treatments by visiting his profile page.

WHAT DOES the TREATMENT PROCESS INVOLVE?

The exact missing teeth replacement process depends on the individual case and the treatment required. A number of visits to the practice are generally required, including both surgical procedures and healing/assessment appointments.

For traditional implant procedures, the implant is first placed before being allowed to fuse with the jaw bone for a period of time (a process called osseointegration). Once this period is complete then the abutment and prosthetic tooth/teeth can be fitted.

Thanks to advancements in implant technology, a complete set of new teeth can now be fitted on the same day as the implants in some cases. Alex will be happy discuss all the available options for your particular case with you.

WHAT HAPPENS at the FIRST CONSULTATION?

The first step is for us to carefully examine your teeth (and mouth as a whole) so that he can assess and advise on the most appropriate and effective missing teeth replacement treatment. X-rays will be taken where necessary and there will be an opportunity to discuss the results that you would like to achieve and ask any questions you may have.

We will talk you through the treatment process and explain the work involved. If you are suitable for dental implants and would like to proceed then a bespoke treatment plan will be created for you and your first treatment appointment arranged.
