WHAT are DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental implants are small titanium screws that are used to replace the root sections of missing teeth. They sit below the gum line and are fitted directly to the jawbone, which makes them extremely stable and secure. Implants are designed to hold an abutment which in-turn allows them to be fitted with the visible part of the new prosthetic tooth or teeth (such as a crown or bridge) to form a complete replacement solution.

HOW do DENTAL IMPLANTS WORK?

Dental implants have a number of great advantages over other tooth replacement options:

HOW MUCH DOES a DENTAL IMPLANT COST?

We aim to make our prices as competitive as possible compared to other dentists in the area who offer a similar level of treatment and care. Our prices for Dental Implants start from £2,400.

WHAT DOES the PROCEDURE INVOLVE

The exact process depends on the individual case and the treatment required. A number of visits to the practice are generally required, including both surgical procedures and healing/assessment appointments.

For traditional implant procedures, the implant is first placed before being allowed to fuse with the jaw bone for a period of time (a process called osseointegration). Once this period is complete then the abutment and prosthetic tooth/teeth can be fitted.

Thanks to advancements in implant technology, a complete set of new teeth can now be fitted on the same day as the implants in some cases. Alex will be happy discuss all the available options for your particular case with you.

How can dental implants help me?

If you have missing teeth then dental implants can markedly improve the performance of regular oral actions such as chewing or talking. They can also dramatically enhance the look of your smile, which in-turn can be a great boost to your confidence.

Are dental implants painful?

The procedure itself is pain-free and is carried out under anaesthetic. Some discomfort or swelling may be experienced for a short period of time after treatment. This can be relieved with regular painkillers and the issue should resolve itself over the next few days.

Are dental implants safe?

Dental implants are extremely safe. The treatment is well-established with a high success rate. Complications are rare though can arise in some cases. Effective aftercare will help prevent problems and we will advise you how to best look after your implants.

How do I clean dental implants?

One of the benefits of dental implants is that they can be cleaned and looked after in much the same way as natural teeth. We will give you guidance on how to optimise your daily hygiene routine to best maintain them.

WHAT HAPPENS at THE FIRST CONSULTATION?

The first step is for us to carefully examine your teeth (and mouth as a whole) so that he can assess and advise on the most appropriate and effective treatment. X-rays will be taken where necessary and there will be an opportunity to discuss the results that you would like to achieve and ask any questions you may have.

We will talk you through the treatment process and explain the work involved. If you are suitable for dental implants and would like to proceed then a bespoke treatment plan will be created for you and your first treatment appointment arranged.
